The ten teams that will compete in the ODI World Cup in India in 2023 have been determined. Following the conclusion of the ICC ODI World Cup Qualifiers, the final two teams who will compete in the ODI World Cup later this year are Sri Lanka and the Netherlands. The Netherlands overcame Scotland by four wickets in a critical ODI World Cup qualification match to secure a place in the tournament. Notably, the Netherlands will compete in the ODI World Cup for the fifth time in history. Previously, the team competed in World Cups in 1996, 2003, 2007, and 2011.
The Netherlands defeated Scotland to secure a place in the top ten teams for the ODI World Cup 2023 in India.
After winning the toss, the Netherlands invited Scotland to bat first. Brandon McMullen's century aided Scotland's competitive total of 277 runs. To become the tenth team to compete in the ODI World Cup, the Netherlands needed to chase down the target in 44 overs; only then could their net run-rate have been higher than Scotland's. Surprisingly, the Dutch squad chased down the goal of 278 runs in 42.5 overs, thanks to Bas de Leede's 123 runs off 92 balls, which included seven fours and five sixes. Not only that, but De Leede took five wickets in the first innings while bowling to keep Scotland under 300 runs.
